  • This sweet, gay friendly fairy tale centers around Hayden, a farm boy who has been chosen by the fairy Lily to help him travel around so that she can use her fairy magic in aid of deserving folks When the story begins, the target is Renee, who is stuck in a Cinderella situation, treated miserably by her step family, who not only treat her as a servant, but have darker plans for her, as she was friends with Prince Garnett.Hayden is being chased by a very determined, and handsome knight, Sir Sidne [...]

  • Magic being outlawed is a big problem for Hayden Not because he has magic, but because his fairy, Lily, does Lily, and by connection Hayden, might only use her magic for good, but all magic is equal under the eyes of the king If caught, Hayden could very well end up spending a lot of time in a dark and dirty cell Luckily they are very careful and move around the kingdom quite a bit, so the chances of getting caught are low And sure, Hayden could just give up the whole Fairy Assistant business, b [...]

  • I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review of this book True rating is probably a 3.75 I was so excited when I saw the synopsis of this I m a COMPLETE sucker for LGBTQ protags in genre fiction And this didn t disappoint in that regard at all We got a queer romance that never had any gay freakouts , and progressed just as a hetero romance would have, along with a plot and events happening outside it It was so refreshing and wonderful to read The rest of the book was equally fu [...]

  • I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review All opinions are my own. This story is a gay friendly Cinderella retelling seen from the point of view of Hayden, assistant to Lily, a fairy that helps other people in need That s everything that fairies do in this fictional world they appear to be sensing other people s needs and desires and they help them achieve them, but they can t really work alone They need to be bound to a human to have the energy to do their magic, and aft [...]

  • Hayden is a bit of a wanderer, a do gooder, and a quiet kind of guy It just so happens that two out of three of those things are helped along by Lily, his fairy Or rather, since he is her assistant, his boss This complicates things a bit when they are embroiled in a Cinderella story, being chased by a knight of the realm under suspicion of unlawful magic, and pretty darn attracted to that same knight. The story is short but sweet, like many of Miller s stories, and the fairy tale elements are imm [...]

  • I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The world building was sweet, thoughtful, and the blend of anachronistic elements in it might have made little sense if they were all on their own, but together they made the world quirky in a very enjoyable way I am a sucker fore fairy tale retellings and I love it when they are told from the point of view of someone who was side lined or not important in the original telling I love happy endings, and was not disap [...]

  • 3.5 stars I will read just about any book with retellings of fairy tales and or queer MCs so I was excited when I read the synopsis of this book It is a fun and lighthearted queer romance story with very little angst and happy endings Sometimes I need to read these types of stories a fun and happy escape from the real world I really enjoyed it It isn t super complex and the villains were all fairly one dimensional I love a flawed and complex villain but it was a cute story and an interesting tak [...]

  • It was a very lovely book Not too much or too little just the right amount for this cute story I would read this again because it was such a sweet book to read.

  • The Fairy s Assistant is a fun retelling of Cinderella from the point of view of Hayden, who is the fairy Lily s assistant Hayden goes where Lily tells him she always has a plan to help someone and this time, she is set on helping Renee, the stepdaughter and stepsister of the family for whom she works as a servant When Hayden arrives in town, he is suspected of being a mage, which conducts a darker sort of magic, very different from fairy magic Mage magic is outlawed, and Hayden has unfortunatel [...]

  • The Fairy s Assistant by Sasha L Miller is currently scheduled for release on November 2 1016 Hayden typically enjoys his life, he gets to travel, he has a fairy in his pocket, and he helps her bring happiness to people who would otherwise go overlooked and continue suffering The only problem is that magic is illegal and there s a certain stubborn, handsome knight determined to prove that Hayden deserves to be locked up Between dodging the stubborn knight and the odious nobles he s currently wor [...]

  • I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This was such a charming and refreshing book with a lovely cast and some wonderful world building that shone through in their surroundings The latter was my favourite part I was interested right from the start, and loved learning about it along the way I wasn t completely drawn in by the writing style, but I liked it well enough and other aspects would have than made up for it regardless. The story holds a lot of Cind [...]

  • Review for BookwinkedSo tell us about the Fairy s Assistant The Fairy s Assistant is a story about Hayden, who helps his fairy perform her good deeds, which does not involve as much magic as you might think In a land where magic is pretty much forbidden, Hayden is a bind They have a new assignment, but at the same time he is on the run from Sidney, who believes there is something to Hayden than he lets on From there the ball starts rolling Or should I say bouncing What is the plot about The sto [...]

  • Hayden is a farm boy, recruited by Lili the Fairy to enhance the lives of those most deserving A little non descript, all the better to work with magic in a kingdom that fears, rather than embraces, all things magical I ll be wholly honest, the set up and ideas for this story were wonderful, but getting there was ponderous The story meandered through the build of Hayden and his daily routine, the fact that he and Lili do not speak, and he can t read, all added to the confusion I don t see this a [...]

  • I thought this story was very sweet Hayden is a very kind and gentle character, who is really relatable, even given the magical nature of the story Renee is likewise a sweet young woman, who you also sense has a strength about her as she deals with her stepmother and step siblings Sidney was probably my favorite character here, with unexpected personality popping up I also found the romance in the book endearing, and though predictable, I found the story hard to put down for the last half That b [...]

  • Sadly to say I missed the whole point of this story I loved the cover and the bio and I was excited to read this book Sadly for me and I really hate to give bad reviews but I did say that I would give an honest review in exchange for reading the book so here is my honest opinion and I m sorry if it s blunt of upsets anyone It s not my intention I just wanted to be honest I didn t like that characters of this story Apart from the fairy The fairy I liked I also liked how they went around helping p [...]

  • The Fairy s Assistant has all the great parts of the classic Cinderella story, told by Hayden, the fairy s human assistant This version focuses on Hayden as he helps Lily his fairy in assisting our maltreated heroine, Renee The adorable, slow burn romance between Hayden and his Prince Charming is almost perfect minor conflict when they meet, and very slowly growing into something solid and sparky I like the concept of the Cinderella story, and this one tells the tale from a new angle While readi [...]

  • I love reading different versions of fairy tales, so this book is right up my alley What was unique about this story is the main character is not your typical fairy tale character but an assistant to a fairy that makes all the happily evers happen It is such a unique and unexpected twist and I loved it.

  • From Magnolia Reviews Four PetalsI really enjoyed the romance and the overall plotting of the book, but I felt it lacked a touch of depth I definitely recommend reading it regardless it was that much fun Read the full review on Maggie s website magnoliareviews.weebly rev

  • A sweet cinderella story Cute characters and a fairy tale like feeling, but unfortunately rather predictable plot
