  • I don t know nearly as much about Jewish history and culture as I would like, or probably should This book was such a lovely introduction to Jewish culture and holidays I am so excited to begin cooking from it

  • This is a nice Jewish themed cookbook that is bowing to the preservation and fermentation trend However, despite beautiful photography, it misses the mark I feel it could do a better job working through the Jewish calendar and pairing together recipes both traditional and modern If you are looking for a beautifully photographed book that includes basic common recipes including lekvars, sauerkraut, pickles, and this is a good title to choose.I received an eARC of this title from NetGalley in exc [...]

  • The Joys of Jewish Preserving by Emily Paster is a free NetGalley ebook that I read in mid June. This book starts with the basics of canning, before moving onto Mediterranean and Jewish flavor profiles, then recipes for spreadables jams, jellies, syrups, and butters though the peach ketchup was my standout favorite and preserved veg i.e pickles, sauerkraut, pickled peppers , and even recipes to feature spreadables like jelly pastries, blintz, or babka.

  • The directions in the newly released book, The Joys of Jewish Preserving, are clear and precise The recipes are written for small batch water bath canning, which I find very useful The author has included a wide and mouth watering variety of recipes for pickled vegetables and fruit preserves The color photographs are beautiful As a self taught canner, I found this book incredibly helpful and inspiring I can t wait to try Emily Paster s recipes

  • Fantastic cookery book with easy to follow recipes and explanations for different canning and preserving methods I have already tested a jam recipe and love the results I can see myself using these recipes quite often over the course of the summer What I really loved about the book was Emily Paster s own history woven throughout the text Her differing experiences with American Jewish cooking versus the methods learned in France were fascinating I appreciated the crash course in Jewish history as [...]

  • There are a lot of recipes in this book that I m going to try Would definitely recommend I received an advanced digital copy from NetGalley for an honest review

  • An amazing introduction to preserving The author gives an introduction into her life and what exactly Jewish preserving is This is slightly lengthy but very interesting The preserves are split into two different chapters with a chapter at the end with recipes for how you can use the preserves The pictures are beautiful and highlight the preserves and recipes wonderfully. Thanks to netgalley for letting me read this.
